Human Rights Law

The Human Rights Act 1998 has given effect to the "convention rights" in domestic law. The HRA 1998 is no ordinary law. It is a legally enforceable charter of human rights and fundamental freedoms. It secures to everyone within the jurisdiction of the United Kingdom. The fundamental values and rights that are entrenched in binding international law by the United Kingdom's rectification of The European Convention on Human RIghts (ECHR). The "convention rights" which are given effect in domestic law are the rights guaranteed under Articles 2 to 12 of the ECHR, articles 1 to 3 of the first protocol and articles 1 to 2 of the sixth protocol.
